The Opportunity

In this full-time, on-site role, the Certified Peer Support Specialist serves as a vital member of the interdisciplinary treatment team. Drawing from lived experience in recovery, you will provide peer-based support, mentorship, and advocacy to clients engaged in PHP and IOP services. This role supports client engagement, retention, and recovery capital while reinforcing hope, self-efficacy, and personal responsibility.

What You Will Do at Healing Rock Recovery

  • Provide one-on-one and group peer support grounded in lived recovery experience.
  • Model recovery-oriented behaviors, healthy boundaries, and coping strategies.
  • Support clients in developing and working toward individualized recovery goals.
  • Facilitate peer-led groups focused on recovery skills, wellness, and community reintegration.
  • Assist clients with navigating systems of care, including treatment, housing, employment, and community resources.
  • Offer encouragement and support during transitions in care, including step-down planning and discharge preparation.
  • Collaborate closely with clinical, medical, and case management staff to support integrated care delivery.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings as appropriate, maintaining professional and ethical boundaries.
  • Document peer support services accurately and timely in Kipu EMR in accordance with program and regulatory requirements.
  • Support client engagement and retention through outreach, check-ins, and recovery-oriented relationship building.

What You Bring to Healing Rock Recovery

  • Current Montana Certified Peer Support Specialist certification in good standing.
  • Lived experience in recovery from substance use and or co-occurring mental health conditions.
  • Demonstrated understanding of recovery-oriented systems of care and peer support principles.
  • Ability to establish rapport, trust, and professional boundaries with clients.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary behavioral health environment.
  • Basic computer proficiency and willingness to learn Kipu EMR.
  • Ability to model emotional regulation, resilience, and ethical decision-making.

Requirements

  • Ability to work full-time, on-site in Billings, MT.
  • Current Montana Certified Peer Support Specialist certification in good standing.
  • Lived experience in recovery from substance use disorder and or co-occurring mental health conditions, with sufficient stability to serve in a peer support role.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of recovery-oriented systems of care and trauma-informed peer support practices.
  • Ability to provide peer support services within the defined scope of practice for Certified Peer Support Specialists in Montana.
  • Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems; Kipu experience is a plus but not required.
  • Strong organizational, time management, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary treatment team.
