Blue Streak began in 1984 as a small courier in Jacksonville, Florida. In its early years, the company operated mostly in northeast Florida, offering same-day delivery service to local businesses and organizations. From its origin, Blue Streak has maintained its dedication to offering the most professional, reliable, and friendly service to its customers.

In 2005, Harold Boyett, a 20-year UPS employee, became the new owner of Blue Streak Couriers. He saw great potential for the small courier to become a multi-state, versatile logistics company. With more than a decade of management in transportation under his belt and an enthusiastic devotion to enhancing and expanding a small business, Boyett set forth on his mission to transform Blue Streak into a southeastern regional carrier.

In addition to expanding geographically in the past decade, Blue Streak has also widened the scope of industries it serves. Initially, the courier company worked mostly with banks, moving deposits and documents throughout the city. Now Blue Streak serves a much greater variety of customers, including medical labs, restaurants suppliers, and final mile logistics.

Job Title: Dispatcher

Department: Dispatch 

Reports To: Dispatch Manager 

Location: Jacksonville, FL 32216 (Corporate Office)

Position Overview:

Blue Streak Couriers is seeking a highly organized, level-headed, and detail-oriented Dispatcher to join our Jacksonville, FL team. This vital operations role is responsible for coordinating and supporting delivery routes, managing communications with drivers, and ensuring on-time performance and service quality throughout the day. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, has excellent problem-solving skills, and can handle real-time decision-making with urgency and professionalism.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Monitor, assign, and adjust routes for independent contractor drivers throughout the day using internal dispatch systems and GPS tracking tools.
• Communicate clearly and frequently with drivers to ensure proper execution of pickup and delivery instructions.
• Respond promptly to time-sensitive delivery issues, rerouting drivers as needed and escalating high-priority concerns.
• Maintain real-time awareness of route statuses, proactively identifying and resolving service disruptions or potential delays.
• Track time-critical deliveries and ensure adherence to client-specific procedures and deadlines.
• Log and update all driver activity and service events in dispatch software.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for driver support, troubleshooting route or customer-related issues with professionalism.
• Collaborate closely with Customer Service and Operations teams to ensure accurate and timely communication.
• Uphold a high standard of communication between customers and internal teams for efficient issue resolution.
• Assist with after-hours or weekend coverage, as needed, to support uninterrupted operations.

Technical Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Teams; familiarity with dispatch or routing software is a plus.
• Ability to multitask in a high-pressure environment while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Confidence in making quick decisions with limited information.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Comfortable navigating GPS, routing, or delivery management tools.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in logistics, supply chain, or related field is a plus.
• Previous experience in dispatching, transportation, logistics coordination, or courier service preferred.
• Familiarity with the courier or last-mile delivery industry is strongly preferred.
• Must be dependable, professional, and capable of maintaining composure in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.

Schedule:

• Monday – Friday, 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM, with some weekends as necessary.
