Responsibilities

• Provide a welcoming atmosphere by greeting customers upon entry
• Efficiently process customer transactions, including cash, checks, and credit/debit cards
• Address customer inquiries, resolve issues, and provide product information
• Maintain accurate cash register balances and process returns/exchanges in accordance with company policy
• Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked retail environment
• Collaborate with fellow retail associates to ensure proper coverage during breaks and lunches
• Support all Garden Center departments with daily tasks and projects during slow periods or winter season
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred
• Successful completion of on-the-job training
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong customer service skills and ability to operate cash registers, calculators, and scanners
• Basic mathematical skills for handling transactions and providing refunds
• Familiarity with company products, services, and customer-related policies

Additional Requirements

• Ability to stand for prolonged periods and work on cash register or related equipment
• Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally
• Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and perform repetitive movements over extended periods
• Team player with strong multitasking and detail-oriented abilities
• Must be at least 18 years old and maintain a dependable attendance record
