We are seeking a highly motivated self-starter to become a full-time Peer Support Specialist .

Responsibilities

Instill hope that recovery is possible; Serves as a consumer advocate; Provides consumer information and acts as resource broker and navigator; Participate in the development of comprehensive, individualized plan of care that includes specific and individualized goals; Assists other service providers to understand the consumers perspective and subjective experience; Orients new consumers about the services, hours, locations staff and other pertinent information necessary for the consumer to understand the program and how to utilize it; Facilities recovery-oriented groups; Acts as a role model in recovery and ongoing coping skills.

Requirements

M1: High school degree of general education diploma (GED).

M2: One (1) year position related lived experience as a consumer of mental health and/or substance abuse services.

M3: Certified Peer Recovery Specialist and Registered as a Registered Peer Recovery Specialist by the State of Virginia.

M4: 12 consecutive months of sobriety or drug free (if substance abuse diagnosis exists) and/or at least 12 consecutive months of success within personal recovery required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities.

M5: Valid Drivers License with a point balance of -6 or higher.

Preferred

P1: Three (3) years position related lived experience as a consumer of mental health and/or substance abuse services.

Fingerprints, State and FBI criminal record reports, drug test, and central registry report will be required upon selection.Our Agency maintains a drug-free workplace.

Annual Salary Range

Grade S-C4

$41,195.00 - $46,344.00
